The Amazing Transformation of a Guy Who Didn’t Give Up! (by papameizan)
(via hellookatty)
“It’s a choice to love” -L.L.
It’s okay to be dysfunctional.
Life is hard now… School makes you realize that real life starts soon, dreams can seem impossible, you hardly ever get the chance to see your family, and our hearts are constantly being broken and put back together as we work to make meaningful and lasting relationships- some that may define our future.
But so is life- it is always filled with obstacles. Sometimes we’re just better able to cope than others times.
And those times when we can’t cope, some of us become terrified of the world.
We don’t want to seem weak- so we tell the world to “fuck off”
We don’t want to be a burden- so we smile
We don’t want to succumb to it- so we ignore it
And in the process, people are pushed away- either by your own will, or by their annoyance, misunderstanding, or their simply not knowing how to fix you.
Many times we become those people.
But isn’t it the most amazing feeling in the world when that one friend, or your sister, anyone.. just loves you through it all?
They don’t ignore, nor do they fix the wrong- they merely make an effort to understand- to merely understand that we’re all fucked up at some points, but that those moments don’t define you.
And beneath the anger, the frustration, the desperation, the depression, the annoying repeated actions- is just a broken person trying to find wholeness- in life, in him or herself.
We can all choose to live for ourselves- to push people away, to believe that only bad exists in the world, in people- or we could choose to make a conscious effort to love- to make the world that much easier to live in for all of us- cause we all struggle, though it may be in varying degrees, at varying times, we all struggle, and we all need love.
Thank you for teaching me that.
